Kustom Thrills Tattoo had a fine open house/art show and BBQ on Mother's Day.
There were a handfull of cars and bikes along with a great crowd. The bands went on about 8:00 and shook the house down.

Today the Pontiac/Red Bull Drift team visited the Bridgestone Americas Corporate office in Nashville TN. Both the Red Bull and the Bridgestone car were running on Bridgstone tires and gave a great demo. My photo album pictures are from the 9th floor but I think you can tell it was a lot of fun as the drivers drifted around cones, spun up and down the roadway in front of the offices. The picture below is a close up of the rear quarter of the Bridgestone Pontiac, where the front tire of the Red Bull Pontiac was rubbing as the two cars circled the cones at the end of the demo. Be sure to see the rest of my pictures in the photo ablum section.

I came across a few images I took last year at a Paul Harmon show at Zeitgeist Gallery. Paul's been in Nashville quite a while and I have been working in an office space which owns and displays several of his pieces, so I live with his art everyday. This show was be far the most vibrant so far. Art could be seen from the street; through the large plate glass windows so clearly. I enjoy paintings that can be read from such a distance.

Bold stencil lines have long been a leitmotif of the Paul Harmon work. Delineated borders define the contours and characteristics of the people, places and things that inhabit the artist’s life and imagination.

Cloisonné-like vibrant color and grayscale tones alike are seemingly trapped inside the stenciled bold lines. The effect is that symbols are made of his subjects. The woman is not necessarily only a particular woman but a graphic symbol for all women. An interior or landscape may be a specific one but it also symbolizes all such ambiance's and environments. Went saw my favorite local band, Hillbilly Casino last night at Lyla's Bluegrass Inn on lower Broadway. They pretty much play every Friday night at 11:00. Always the craziest show on broad.

I went to an art opening Saturday night at Ruby Green. There were several artists participating in this show. I took a few phone/camera pictures; the image of the 3 bunnies in a basket is by John Donovan. I have one of his bunny pieces, which can be seen here. The show was fun overall prices ranged from $1100 - $2500. I noticed a few pieces sold which is always good for the artists. The show runs from October 13th through October 24th, 2007. The RG website has hours and a complete list of the 10+ Artists involved in this show.

Kinda cool variation of a boss v8 cycle. I didn't get to see it off the trailer or hear it for that matter. Still nice none the less.
